چکیده

In th epast decade, increasing interest in equity issues resulted in new methodologies in the area of operations research. This paper deals with the concept of equitably efficient solutions to multiple criteria optimization problems. Multiple criteria optimization usually starts with an assumption that the criteria are incomparable. However, many applications arise from situations which present equitable criteria. Moreover, some aggregations of criteria are often applied to select efficient solutions in multiple criteria analysis. The latter enforces comparability of criteria (possibly rescaled). This paper presents aggregations which can be used to derive equitably efficient solutions to both linear and nonlinear multiple optimization problems. An example with equitable solutions to a capital budgeting problem is analyzed in detail. An equitable form of the reference point method is introduced and analyzed.

Linear optimization with multiple equitable criteria

– The standard multiple criteria optimization starts with an assumption that the criteria are incomparable. However, there are many applications in which the criteria express ideas of allocation of resources meant to achieve some equitable distribution. This paper focuses on solving linear multiple criteria optimization problems with uniform criteria treated in an equitable way. An axiomatic de...

Inequality measures and equitable approaches to location problems

Location problems can be considered as multiple criteria models where for each client (spatial unit) there is de®ned an individual objective function, which measures the e€ect of a location pattern with respect to the client satisfaction (e.g., it expresses the distance or travel time between the client and the assigned facility). This results in a multiple criteria model taking into account th...

An extended of multiple criteria data envelopment analysis models for ratio data

One of the problems of the data envelopment analysis traditional models in the multiple form that is the weights corresponding to certain inputs and outputs are considered zero in the calculation of efficiency and this means that not all input and output components are utilized for the evaluation of efficiency, as some are ignored. The above issue causes the efficiency score of the under evalua...

Evaluating Aggregation Membership and Copulatory Success in the Stink Bug, Euschistus conspersus, using Field and Laboratory Experiments

The aggregation and mating behavior of the stink bug, Euschistus conspersus Uhler (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) was investigated in a series of field and laboratory experiments. Marking of E. conspersus mating in aggregations in the field demonstrated that both sexes mate multiple times within aggregations on successive nights and with different partners, although ≈ 20% of the individuals of both s...

Fair and efficient network dimensioning with the reference point methodology

The dimensioning of telecommunication networks that carry elastic traffic requires the fulfillment of two conflicting goals: maximizing the total network throughput and providing fairness to all flows. Fairness in telecommunication network design is usually provided using the so-called max-min fairness (MMF) approach. However, this approach maximizes the performance of the worst (most expensive...
